This vintage Geoffrey Beene 2 piece evening ensemble is a perfect example of the iconic elements found in Beene's designs.  The dress has Beene's unique waistline - (he rarely did a traditional one) and a scoop neck black wool bodice. The skirt portion is in a green checked taffeta with a slight high low hem with lace trim and  pockets. Beene was always mixing a variety of textured fabrics in uncommon ways and he also loved using contrasting colors. The contrasting purple wool jacket has gold braided buttons and is lined in a beautiful bright pink. This beautiful jacket has unique asymmetrical cuffs and an interesting hemline. The sleeves on the dress have hook-and-eye closures and black metal zippers.

The dress has a black metal zipper and hook-and-eye closure down center back seam. Geoffrey Beene's collections were always so beautifully made and you can only appreciate the quality by feeling the fabric and seeing how it moves when worn!
